Attendance & Punctuality

We recognise the fundamental role that regular attendance and punctuality play in fostering a positive and successful learning environment.

Why is Attendance Important?
  • Regular attendance is directly linked to academic achievement. Children who attend school regularly are more likely to stay on track with their studies, participate in classroom activities, and grasp key concepts. This, in turn, contributes to better academic performance.
  • Every school day presents valuable learning opportunities. Consistent attendance ensures that students do not miss out on crucial lessons, class discussions, and hands-on activities. Each day builds upon the previous, creating a continuous and comprehensive learning experience.
  • School is not just about academics; it plays a crucial role in social and emotional development. Regular attendance allows children to build relationships with peers, develop social skills, and engage in extracurricular activities, fostering a well-rounded growth experience.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are qualities highly valued in the professional world. By instilling these habits during school years, students are better prepared for future responsibilities, including employment and post-secondary education.
  • Regular attendance helps in establishing a routine and sense of discipline. It teaches children the importance of commitment and responsibility, which are vital life skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Absence

In the event of your child's absence from school, it is imperative to inform the school promptly, either by telephone, email, or letter, providing a valid reason for the absence. Absences are categorised as either authorised or unauthorised by the school.

Authorised absences encompass instances such as religious observance, medical appointments, and genuine illness. It is important to note that the school reserves the right to request proof of medical appointments and confirmation from a medical professional if a child's level of absence exceeds what is typical for a usually healthy child.

Unauthorised absences include time off for birthday treats, family days out, and holidays, amongst others. Emphasising the significance of regular attendance contributes to fostering a positive learning environment for every student.
